Narnia Commercial!

In a recent television commercial for The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, Edmund says a line that he does not say in the movie. He says, "It's a talking beaver!", whereas in the movie, he just gives an expression that speaks miles. So watch more television -- you might see Skandar and his 4 extra words. Later!

Just an idea: You can print an assortment of Skandar pictures and quotes out on lined paper. (Just be sure to use the 'washout' option on the picture, so it isn't so dark.) **hint: Don't turn in your A+ assignments on Skandar paper if you have a grumpy and/or strict teacher. Trust me; I know.

A couple of days ago, I worked up the courage to ask the same tech-teacher as mentioned earlier for help on turning a picture (of Skandar, of course) into a toolbar with links. It was a pointless idea, really. He takes one look at the picture and says, "No." I pleadingly ask why, and he says, "It's not for the bettering of mankind." At that, I had to fight back a laugh. This teacher does nothing but advise people in playing mindless "twitch-games" and yet there he was, acting as it he cared about improving the universe. Ha! I figured it out anyway, and as soon as I get the OK from my parents on downloading some new software, then I can be on my way to making an improved Skandar fansite.

Skandar: "The Turkey Named Alex"

So I was in the computer-tech room at school during lunch, (with Angie) when the technology teacher comes along. He asked us if we realized that we were the only girls in the entire room ("Uhh, yes I suppose we are") and proceeds to monitor what we were doing. Of course, we were updating a Skandar website. He reads some of the website and says, "His name is Skandar?" He absolutely butchered the pronounciation, so I quickly corrected, "It's Skandar. And 'Skandar' is like Turkish for Alexander" The miserable teaching oaf quickly retorts, "So you girls are in love with a turkey named Alex?!" After that Angie and I learned that is it best to merely ignore him. It's a pity, really, because we could have used his computer skills to help with the website.

Okay -- this really has nothing to do with Skandar, but it is a subject that needs to be shared.
I go to Saddleback Church, and they always have interesting services. Last month they taught about God in Narnia. Very fascinating, with the added bonus of seeing Skandar on the commercial which played as an intro on these huge screens. Well, yesterday they had Mincayani and Steve Saint speak about their truly amazing story of forgiveness, which was made into a movie, due out in theatres on January 20th. (I do not know how wide the movie's release will be or how highly it will be reviewed.) Fifty years ago, five missionaries went to Ecuador where the world's fiercest tribe lived. (60% of the people in that tribe died as the result of murder!) Anyway, all five missionaries were speared to death by people from the tribe. In an act of either recklessness or bravery, the wife of one of the men killed and the sister of another went to live with the tribe to teach them about God. After knowing Jesus, the homicide rate went down by over ninety percent in the tribe. Steve Saint is the son of one of the missionaries that was killed, and Mincayani is the man that killed his father. Steve forgave Mincayani, and Mincayani accepted his forgiveness. (Wow) When the two spoke at church, Mincayani was completely inspirational. Steve was his translator, and his language was primitive, yet it carried such a strong message in it! Aside from all that, Mincayani was the coolest looking senior I have ever seen: He had tribal tattoos on his arms, and a fang necklace, with these earrings that were huge. He is nothing like my boring grandpa!

P.S. For lots of information and pictures from Narnia, you should buy The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe: The Official Illustrated Movie Companion. I got it for Christmas and it has proved to be a great read. It is full of interesting facts. For example: in the scene at the end of the movie, when the professor tossed the cricket ball to Peter, Jim Broadbent (the professor) accidentally threw the ball too hard in one take, resulting in Skandar getting hit in the face. Poor Skandar.....

I am having some technical difficulties. Maybe you could help... I have made a post (with color, pictures ect.), which I saved as a draft, yet when I clicked 'publish post', and then went to the blog, I found it to be as un-updated as it was hours ago when I first created it. Why will my draft not post??? This is highly discouraging.
